Prototype throttle installation instructions


There are a few small prototype quirks noted below that will be corrected in production.

Overview

The throttle runs on 6 bearings total:

  • 4 bearings inside the handlebar

  • 2 bearings in the throttle housing
    This keeps the throttle extremely smooth.


Bar End Installation

  1. Install the grip onto the throttle tube. Poke a small hole in the grip so the bolt can pass through.

  2. Insert the bar end assembly into the supplied tool.


  3. Insert a 6 mm Allen key on the tool side and a 4 mm Allen key on the bar-end side. Turn counter-clockwise to loosen the assembly so the bearings drop into the tool.



  4. Insert the bar end (with bolt) into the outside of the throttle tube and grip. Insert the tool (with bearings) into the inside of the throttle tube.



  5. Tighten to lock the bar end onto the throttle tube. (Note* Picture below does not show grip installed). The bolt is slightly short in this version so you may need to push hard on the 6mm allen key to have the nut grab onto the bolt. 


  6. Insert the bushing into the handlebar, then place the bearings inside the bushing.

    • If the fit is loose, add a small amount of plumber’s tape so it’s just snug.

  7. Slide the throttle tube onto the handlebar so the bearings sit inside the bushing.


Throttle Housing Installation

  1. Choose a cam:

    • Slow (30 mm) – equivalent to standard white throttle

    • Fast (31.5 mm) – similar to TRS Gold

    • Super Fast (35 mm) – significantly quicker
      Cams can be swapped by removing the bearing and installing it onto a different cam. Customized and progressive cams are possible and encouraged!

  2. Apply a small amount of lubricant between the throttle tube and housing (prototype only).

  3. Install the throttle cable. The prototype housing is tight—this will be improved in production.

  4. When tightening the housing:

    • Fully tighten the side closest to you first (no gap)

    • Then tighten the opposite side (a small gap is normal on the prototype)

  5. The throttle should spin very smoothly.

    • If not, check for gaps on both sides or add a small amount of lube.
