Brembo vs Braktec: Which Enduro Lever Fits Your Bike?

If you ride a modern KTM, Husqvarna or GasGas, the single most important question before buying an aftermarket clutch or brake lever is: do you have a Brembo or a Braktec master cylinder? Get it right and the lever drops straight on. Here's how to tell in seconds — and exactly which of our one-finger Ergo levers fits.

The 10-second check

Look at the hydraulic master cylinder on your handlebar — the unit your clutch or brake lever bolts to. It's stamped on the body: either "brembo" or "BRAKTEC" (sometimes written "Braketec"). That stamp — not your bike's badge — decides which lever you need, because master cylinders often get swapped when a bike changes hands.

Fitment by brand & year

KTM — Brembo across the board: EXC / EXC-F / XC-W / SX / SX-F 250–500, 2016–2026 (big-bore clutch has been Brembo since 2006, brakes since 2014).

Husqvarna — mixed by year. Brembo for 2014–2016 enduro, 2025 enduro, and 2022–2026 MX/XC. Braktec for 2022–2024 TE/FE enduro (and the 2025 FE 501 clutch).

GasGas — Braktec for EC/EC-F enduro 2021–2026 and MC/EX 2024–2026; Brembo for MC/EX 2021–2023 and the EX250F / EX350F.

Beta, Sherco, TM — Brembo (note: Beta's front brake is Nissin, so only the Brembo clutch lever fits Beta).

Why did the same bike change?

The KTM group (KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas) has long used Brembo hydraulics, but moved several models to Braktec — a Spanish supplier — in recent years. GasGas enduro switched to Braktec in 2021 after the KTM acquisition; GasGas MX/XC followed for 2024. Husqvarna enduro ran Braktec 2022–2024, then returned to Brembo for 2025. The 2023 model year even had dual-spec "BT"-suffix bikes sold in both. That's why two riders on the "same" bike can need different levers.
